Disease Research Project
As the culminating activity for the microlife unit, Rachel Tourais’ seventh grade science students researched a disease and created a short multimedia overview using Photostory 3 for Windows:
The project, which unfolded over a two week period, was guided by a structured research process based on The Big6. Students developed a project plan, identified, evaluated, and cited resources, reflected on their final project, and viewed/commented on each others work.
By weaving Information Literacy and Visual/Media Literacy into the project, students learned critical, 21st century skills within the context of the core curriculum. This approach is one that we should emulate as we move forward with our 1:1 Tablet PC initiative.
