Scratch Programming
Jody Marberry’s 7th grade algebra-geometry students explored computer programming using Scratch. One class period of each six-day cycle was devoted to the topic for a total of five lessons. Students learned simple terminology and were introduced to the principles of object-oriented programming.
To conclude the project, each student created a program of his/her own design and these were uploaded to a gallery on the Scratch Website. The students reacted so positively to the experience that many decided to continue working on their creations independently after the unit was completed.
