6th Grade Life ‘Round Here
MICDS was one of 19 schools that created photo essays of life in their hometown as part of Chris Craft’s “Life ‘Round Here” project. Students from several US cities, Peru, Qatar, Canada, China, Thailand, the Dominican Republic, and New Zealand participated in the project.
Each 6th grade history student created a Photostory on the influence of technology in St. Louis, and six projects were submitted and posted to the Life ‘Round Here wiki. The students were able to gain insight into life in other cities and countries by listening to their peers describe what life is like “’round there.” Gaining first-hand knowledge and addressing stereotypes was a powerful lesson for all schools and students who took part in the project.
