Wikis in the Classroom
Today I conducted a half-day workshop on Wikis in the Classroom. Although wikis have been used in education for years, their rapid evolution continually affords new integration opportunities for beginning users and veterans alike:
Throughout the course of the morning, our small, diverse, and dedicated group explored some of the pedagogical benefits of wikis (cooperative learning, project-based learning, and authentic assessment), explored a variety of wiki examples that spanned all grade levels and disciplines, experimented with several wiki tools, including Wikispaces, Mediawiki, and PBworks, and discussed strategies for effectively assessing student work. Whether you are new to wikis or simply looking to enhance your skills, all session notes and resources are available here; please use and reuse to your benefit.

Thanks for making all of this available. We set up our Campus Edition Wikispace.net account this spring but haven’t started using it with students. Your resources posted here will make it easier for me to help my staff see ways to use them.

My pleasure, Susan; I’m glad you found the resources helpful–feel free to use/reuse them to your benefit.
We’ve just moved to Wikispaces private label for our school too and will start rolling it out over the summer. Still really like having MediaWiki, though, because of its power and editing features.
Best of luck with the roll out!

Pat,
Thanks for sharing the know-how of Wiki and compare it with others. I would like to share the ideas with other teachers so thank you for your efforts and time for putting it together. In addition, your presentation (on slide share) is clear and well-designed. Good job!
